Aaron Biber, 89, in his damaged hairdressing salon after a protest against a fatal police shooting descended into riots in north London on Saturday night.
This photo breaks my heart. It sickens me that people have taken advantage of a peaceful protest by the friends and family of a man shot dead (despite him being a wanted gangster) to start a riot and break into/set fire to shops just so they can go looting and get some free TVs etc. All of the violence is without a doubt a result of social deprivation but I don’t understand how setting fire to their own communities is helping anyone at all, especially in areas so deprived?! I feel sorry for the local businesses and families who have had HOUSES SET FIRE TO just for the sake of a bit of violence and to let out pent up anger.
Also heard that riots have started in Leeds & Birmingham and there are rumours of them spreading to Manchester & Liverpool tonight too, although not too sure what the status of that is. The country really is going up in flames and I strongly doubt it’s going to end any time soon :/
Birmingham, Liverpool and Bristol have seen action. Heard a brief mention of Manchester on the news earlier also.
